Be a Good Mother
It took me years to realize this, but to be a good Mother, you must put yourself first. Not everyday, but, at least once a week. Mothers need to at least be able to take a long bath, get a little exercise and do something they really enjoy that is fun and relaxing. If they don't get this at least once per week, they get totally exhausted, depressed, angry and sad all at the same time. I'm not saying to put your children and husband second at all. We all know our children come first. But, just once per week, we need to take a break and take care of our own needs. If you don't do this once in a while you will totally lose yourself and be unable to care for your children. What I just started doing is putting my daughter in daycare just once a week. This allows her to socialize with other children and gives me one day of a break. It is great, because, just for that day, I can do something just for myself that I desperately need.
A second thing that all Mothers must learn to do is JUST SAY NO! We are bombarded with school activities, PTA meetings, church activities, parties and such. If you do too many of those, you will become a frazzled MESS. You need to pick and choose a few of those activities you want to attend in advance, and go to them and really enjoy them. And, you will definitely enjoy them more, since you won't be worn out by going to too many or in some mothers cases (all activities). How many are too many? I say, when they make you too tired and interrupt your daily life too much. Once you decide how often is bearable, that is what you should stick to. Once you learn to say no, it becomes much easier to do the second, third, fourth, ...etc. A polite way to say NO without hurting anyone's feeling is : I may be able to attend the next one, but, I cannot make it to this one. I'm sorry. Trust me it works. You will feel better in your life, people will respect you and not see you as a pushover, and most importantly, you will only be attending activities you want to do.
The third thing that all Mothers need to do is take care of their health. If we die off too young, who will care for our children? If you are sick, go to the doctor. If the first doctor doesn't help, go to another doctor for a second opinion. Also, study up on vitamins and such that can help you feel better. I always look up symptoms in my book called Prescription for Nutritional Healing and I take the recommended vitamins and herbs which usually helps the problem. Also, try to get enough sleep if you can. Cut off activities when you get sleepy. It CAN wait until the next day. Who cares if your house isn't perfectly clean every day. You can always work on it tomorrow. Lastly, exercise is another must. I know it's hard. I myself don't like it. I have gone years without exercising, but, those are times when I get exhausted just going up and down stairs or walking too far because of being out of shape. I don't like feeling that way. I want to just be able to play with my kids. To exercise by just having FUN is the way to go. My favorite is go for a bike ride or walk around the block. One time I rode my bike, very slowly, just enjoying the scenery, casually looking around, for 15 min. per day. In 3 months, I lost 15 lbs. I never changed my eating either. I drank mostly the frozen(since they are fresher than bottled) 100% real juice, milk, water and about twice per week pop. I ate normal meals that included sometimes fatty foods, vegetables, and a very small desert. And, I still lost weight. The same thing happened when I walked only as far as I could go. Mind you at first, I walked super slow and got faster each day. I always carried a small water bottle with me, and would stop and rest when ever I got out of breath. That summer I lost 15 lbs. In the winter I tend to gain a little because it's too cold to go outside. In the winter, I do the video tape by Denise Austin called Xtralite Beginner's Tone Up because most of the exercises, you just sit in a chair. And, after having two C-Sections, I needed something easy. You see I really hate exercise, so I like the fun easy stuff to do. See the link below for the Denise Austin tape I have.

I decided to write about these issues to be my first blog. Even though it took me years to learn these lessons, these lessons have helped me feel better, so I thought they may help others feel better too.
We, as Mothers, need to take control of our lives. If we don't, who will?
These recommendations are of my own personal opinion.
